All the information you might need to apply for our paid NCS roles in any of our locations.

Twin NCS Information for Applicants  

Thank you for your interest in working on Twin NCS (National Citizen Service) programme. This page aims to provide you with as much information as possible about working with us on one of our 6 summer waves. Waves 1 to 5 will run for a period of 20 days each with waves 4, 5 and 6 running condensed waves for a period of 15 days each as below (location dependent). Our waves run weekdays with weekends off.

Note: phase 1 and 2 are residential and you will be required to stay on site.  

You need to be available to work all the dates of a wave. Contracts for Wave Leaders, Team and Assistant Team Leaders are normally 4 weeks (one wave) or 7/8 weeks (two waves if you start on the 29.06 or 6.07). Contracts for Assistant Wave Leaders and Centre Coordinators are usually for 6 weeks.  

Contract extensions are offered depending on staff performance and young people numbers. 

 

Locations and Training running in summer 2020

All staff will be required to attend 2-day mandatory training (9-5) taking place at the weekends.  

 

Wave and Assistant Wave Leaders and Centre Coordinators: 

  • Must attend training on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June in London.   
  • Must be willing to take on the responsibility of designated safeguarding staff member, first-aider and fire-warden (training provided at induction). 

 

Team and Assistant Team Leaders: 

  • Must attend 2 days training consecutively based on the location you will be working. See below

The application process

  • Read the relevant job description for the role to ensure you have the skills, experience and qualification(s) required before applying. 
  • Register your interest on the NCS website:https://wearencs.com/summeroles, specify ‘I want to work for a specific provider’, then type in "Twin" and select your preferred location: Twin Training International Ltd- SW (South West- Dorset) or LN (London). 

  • Once you have registered your interest with NCS, you will receive an email from Twin NCS team requesting some more information. You will be required to submit this information together with an updated CV and cover letter explaining why you’d like to work on Twin NCS programme and what makes you suitable for the chosen role back to ncsrecruitment@twinuk.com 
  • If your application is successful, we will invite you to a face to face group assessment and interview. If you have previously worked on the NCS programme and have received positive feedback you will be required to attend a brief interview instead, depending on the role worked. 
  • Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders will be invited to a group assessment in London HQ on one of the following dates:

  • Wave Leaders and Assistant Wave Leaders will be invited to a group assessment followed by an individual interview in London HQ on one of the following dates:

  • If your assessment and interview are successful, we will issue you with a conditional offer letter and follow up your references. You will also be issued with a contract.  You must return your contract to secure your role.  Please note that your contract is subject to receiving a clear DBS and suitable references. Successful applicants will be allocated a wave on a first-come-first-serve basis, so the earlier you attend an assessment the more likely we can place you in your preferred borough location. 
  • All staff must have a clear enhanced DBS check with the barred list for children two weeks before starting work.  
  • If you are registered with the DBS update service, we will need your original DBS and ID number and written permission to check your status online.  
  • You will be sent a link so we can start to process your application. Twin will cover the cost of your initial DBS check, but this will be deducted from your salary if you do not complete your contract.  
  • If you intend to work for Twin again in the future, you must either sign up for the update service and renew annually, or apply for a new DBS check at your own expense. 
  • If you do not normally live in the UK, we will need a Report of Good Conduct/Police Report from the country you reside in. 
  • If you have spent three months or more overseas within the last five years or have worked with children or young people overseas beyond five years, an overseas criminal record check will be required. This must be accompanied by an official translation.  
  • We require you to complete NCS online modules on introduction to NCS, safeguarding, mental health, incident management, and health and safety before your participation in the face to face training. Wave and Assistant Wave Leaders also need to complete a level 3 safeguarding course. 
  • If we have not seen proof of identity or original certificates, you must bring them to your induction training. Copies will be kept on file.
